Transplantation can result in the production of antibodies in the recipient. These can be a potential trigger for injury and rejection of the organ. UHCW has pioneered translational research in Antibodies in Transplantation. This includes detailed laboratory analysis of the antibody profile and the characterisation of the antibody responses. This research has increased long-term outcomes of Antibody Incompatible Transplants. Other factors involved in long term outcomes of transplantation are also being studied. Prediction models to improve outcomes in transplantation are being developed using AI. In addition, nonadherence in young adults and health inequalities in management of chronic kidney disease are being explored.
