My name is Dave Cummins and I now volunteer as a Patient Research Champion.
In February 2017 I was diagnosed with a Condrasarcoma (a form of cancer) in my left femur (thigh bone). Within a month I had had ground breaking surgery to replace my femur with a titanium one. Basically I have half a false leg but it's internal. WOW!! That is amazing and I still can't believe they are able to do this.
Although as yet I haven't been part of a research project myself I am eternally grateful to the those who have been in the past. Without these people who have been involved in both cancer and orthopaedic research I would undoubtedly not be writing this message.
