Health Inequalities Research Advisory Group

Health inequalities are unfair and avoidable differences in health between different groups in society. For example:

  • In Coventry, men living in the most deprived areas live on average for 11 years less than those in the most affluent areas, for women this gap is 8 years (2018-20 data)
  • Black and Asian women have up to a three times higher risk of dying in pregnancy (2020-22 data)
  • Disabled people living in the South of England are more likely to report good health than disabled people living in the North of England (2021 data)

Our Institute of Health Equity and Social Care (IHESC) leads the way in research into reducing healthcare inequalities.

By joining our Health Inequalities Research Advisory Group, you can use your lived experience, opinions and valuable insights to help influence research, guide priorities and ensure studies reflect what truly matters to people.

Your voice can help make research more relevant, inclusive, and accessible for all.
