Research Sponsorship at UHCW

The Sponsorship and Governance team review and approve studies classified as research. A 'Sponsor' is an organisation which takes ultimate responsibility for:

  • The initiation, management and/or financing for that research (or arrangement of these tasks).
  • That the design of the study meets appropriate standards and that arrangements are in place to ensure appropriate conduct and reporting.
  • Ensuring data integrity and complying with data protection legislation and standards of good practice.

UHCW will typically sponsor research studies where the investigator has a substantive role within the organisation and where UHCW are at least one of the UK site/s.

UHCW Sponsorship Position Statement

Research is defined as: intentionally planned and designed using documented methodology which will allow results to be extrapolated or applied from the study sample to a larger population. • Chief investigator agreement
  • Draft Protocol
  • Draft IRAS Form
  • Applicable draft Participant documents e.g., Participant Information Sheet, Consent Forms, GP letters
