The Sponsorship and Governance team review and approve studies classified as research. A 'Sponsor' is an organisation which takes ultimate responsibility for:
- The initiation, management and/or financing for that research (or arrangement of these tasks).
- That the design of the study meets appropriate standards and that arrangements are in place to ensure appropriate conduct and reporting.
- Ensuring data integrity and complying with data protection legislation and standards of good practice.
UHCW will typically sponsor research studies where the investigator has a substantive role within the organisation and where UHCW are at least one of the UK site/s.
